Your privacy is a priority for PlasticFreeRestaurants.org (herein “PFR” for simplicity). Our commitments to our donors, and the security measures we use to keep your personal information safe and confidential, are listed below.

 

Donor Privacy Policy

 

A.    We will never trade, sell, or share a PFR donor’s personal information without explicit permission from that donor to do so.

B.      We will never send mailings or any other communications to a PFR donor on behalf of another organization without explicit permission from that donor to do so.

C.    This policy applies to all information received by PFR, both online and offline, as well as any electronic or written communications.

D.    PFR only uses credit card or other payment information for the purpose for which it was provided.

E.     Some donors may be recognized in publications like PFR’s annual report. We respect the privacy of every donor by offering a non-passive “opt-in” choice (on both our online and mail-in donation forms) for those donors who wish to allow that their names and contribution amounts (or approximate contribution levels) be made public. Any donor who does not opt in to such a permission will be identified only as “Anonymous” in any publicly-available report. A donor who wishes to revoke his/her/their previously-granted permission, or to grant permission where it was previously withheld, may notify us at contact@plasticfreerestaurants.org.

F.     We may disclose a donor’s personal information:

1.     to any of PFR’s board members, staff, employees, officers, insurers, consultants, agents, suppliers, or subcontractors insofar as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this policy;

2.     to the extent that we are required to do so by law;

3.     in connection with any ongoing or prospective legal proceedings;

4.     in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and reducing credit risk);

5.     to any person whom we reasonably believe may apply to a court or other competent authority for disclosure of that personal information where, in our reasonable opinion, such court or authority would be reasonably likely to order disclosure of that personal information.

A.    This notice describes PlasticFreeRestaurant.org’s (PFR’s) privacy policy as it relates to our web site https://www.PlasticFreeRestaurants.org. By using this web site, you are agreeing to the terms of this policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use this web site.

B.     PFR endeavors to keep your personal information safe and confidential. PFR guards against the loss, theft, misuse, and alteration of personal data through reasonable physical and electronic security measures. We use industry-accepted collection and encryption mechanisms to ensure the secure collection, storage, and transmission of user information.

C.    PFR may ask for and collect from you personally identifiable information at various points throughout our web site. You may be asked to provide your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, payment details, and other pertinent information. Once you provide this information, it may be recorded by PFR. PFR does not collect private information from you without your explicit permission, and most of the PlasticFreeRestaurants.org web site does not require you to disclose personal information in order to view.

3.     to send you informational mailings that may include but are not limited to donation appeals, requests for information, action alerts, and campaign updates;

4.     to improve the quality of our website;

5.     to contact you about a problem with or question about your donation;

6.     to contact you about your stated interest in volunteering;

7.     to contact your about your stated ownership or management of a restaurant.

F.     Please note that where we rely on your consent to use your personal information, every user worldwide has the right to withdraw that consent at any time. This includes the option to unsubscribe from our email list at any time, to be excluded from our online campaign promotion lists or other communications, or to have one’s data deleted from PFR’s database. Any individual may opt out of any communications from PlasticFreeRestaurants.org, change his/her/their personal details in PFR’s records, or request that his/her/their data be deleted from PFR’s database, by emailing contact@plasticfreerestaurants.org or by mailing such request to PlasticFreeRestaurants.org, 1988 El Arbolita Drive, Glendale CA 91208.

G.    Any individual may elect to stop receiving our group emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.

H.    PFR’s web site provides links to several other third party web sites. While PFR makes efforts to choose external links carefully, PFR does not take any responsibility for the content of linked web sites, or for the privacy policies of those web sites. PlasticFreeRestaurants.org encourages you to review the privacy policies posted on third party web sites prior to use.

A.    Copies of our annual reports may be downloaded from our Transparency page. Additional financial information from the most recent year of our operation (i.e., too recent to have been included in our latest annual report) may be requested by emailing contact@plasticfreerestaurants.org.

B.     PlasticFreeRestaurants.org may amend this privacy policy periodically. PFR will announce any changes to the privacy policy on its web site and via email. Please review all revisions to our policy. PFR reserves the right to change its privacy policy at any time by electronic notice on our web site and through email. Your continued use of our web site after the date that such notices are posted or emailed will be deemed to be your agreement to the changed terms.
